Yaaay, we are at this lovely stage now.   Everything is NO I DO IT mommy.  I pour my own cup of juice/milk (i just let him hold the cup while i do it), I put on my own clothes (backwards and mismatched), I put on my own shoes (on the wrong feet), I put my syrup in the microwave and push buttons to warm it up ( very closely supervised).  My absolute favorite is to set him on the potty and him to tell me to go away, shut the door because he wants privacy even though he gives me NONE. While I love that he is getting more independent, his I DO IT stage takes a lot more time than me doing it myself. I know he will never learn if I do everything for him, but darn it I am not ready for the little booger to be so independent and grow up!

My son is just now starting with this....and he is almost 4!!!!

Good that he is more independent, bad that it takes 3 X longer now for him to get dressed!!

Mine does it with food and drink, refuses to put his own darn shoes on though he's known how to velcro a shoe since 20 months old.   They are fun aren't they?

OH I hated this stage. My favorite was walking into a room with DD behind me and all of a sudden she was screaming crying on the floor. Finally it hit me. . . I'd turned on the light.. SHE wanted to do it. So glad when this was over! I feel your pain!

I have a new student, and some days he wants to do everything himself, then there those days he says, he can't and needs help. Confusing, and at times even frustrating, but I know it is a growth thing. Too cute!!!
