Update: Widmer could be released from jail after hearing scheduled for 1:00 today. (July 22)

 MOD UPDATE 2:02 Widmer has been granted a $1million bond to be released until trial. His previous bond was $400,000, and friends and family put up their homes to raise the bail money.

yay! OMG, what great news today!! Widmer was granted a new trial! I'm so happy and will be praying for him.

I agree with that decision.  I didn't read the link...will the location be moved to another location?  I don't see him getting a fair trial after all the media coverage here.  Unless you live under a rock you know what is going on.

I'm glad. My sister, who had him as a student, will be overjoyed.

Will he get out pending the new trial?  Wasn't he out on bond before he was convicted...or am I remembering incorrectly?

I don't understand why an experiement on hair-drying wasn't done officially - since the dry hair was a major part fo the argument............why leave out what seems so obvious that those jurors felt the need to find out on their own?

 

stupid move by the lawyers - hope they remedy that for the next trial.
